Towel buying guide
When buying towels, you have to pay attention for the following three characteristics: material, weight, and size. Additionally, to ensure their long-term use, the products need an appropriate care. All towels in our online store are made of 100% cotton and have a high absorption rate. For more demanding customers, we offer a variety of luxury types made of bamboo, Egyptian cotton, and a cotton/tencel combination (lyocell).
Materials
Bamboo. Bamboo is a natural, ecological fiber. It has anti-bacterial properties and a silky softness. The fabric is a favorite choice of those who prefer an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
Egyptian cotton. The Egyptian cotton is grown exclusively in Egypt and represents a luxury type of cotton with extremely long threads. They ensure a high level of durability, the specific “fluffiness”, a high absorption rate, and the typical softness of these towels.
Micro cotton. The micro cotton towels have a higher absorption rate compared to the other varieties. They are manufactured in accordance with the relevant ecological standards and have an extremely fine structure.
Organic cotton. Organic cotton is certified to comply with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The manufacturing process of towels and other products made from organic cotton involves the use of crops grown without the application of toxic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
Supima cotton. Supima cotton is viewed as the “cotton cashmere”. It is grown mainly in the hot, dry climate of the Southwest Region of the United States. The fabric is well-known for its quality and extremely long threads, highly valued for their strength and absorption properties.
Weight
The fabric weight is measured in grams per square meter. This characteristic shows the towel thickness–the thicker (the heavier) the towels, the more luxury they provide. The homeslinen.com online store offers towels with a weight range between 380 and 650 grams per square meter.
300-400 g/m2
This weight segment includes lightweight towels, which dry faster and are suitable for use in the kitchen, around the pool, at the fitness club, or as part of hotel equipment.
400-620 g/m2
Ideal medium-weight towels which may find application in the bathroom, at the beach, and when you have guests. Each consecutive weight number–400, 500, and 600 g/m2, corresponds to a slightly thicker towel with a higher absorption rate.
620-900 g/m2
These heavy-weight towels represent the premium/luxury segment, characterized by the highest density, thickness, and absorption rate.
Sizes
The Bulgarian market offers four standard towel sizes–hand towel (30x50 cm), head towel (50x80 cm), and body towels (70x140 cm and 100x150 cm). There are other towel categories, which include additional types of sizes and applications. Below, you can find a description of most common towel sizes.
30x30 cm–face towel. This is a small, square-shaped towel, which can be used on your face or as a guest towel. Usually, it has a one-time application after which is thrown in a specially designed laundry basket. The size makes it an ideal bath decorative element.
30x50 cm–guest towel. In Bulgaria, this is the towel size that usually finds its application in the kitchen.
50x80 cm–hand/head towel. This is the perfect terry towel to apply as a head wrap after bath. You can also use it as a hand towel, since its size is suitable for most standard towel rails in the bathroom.
