Recommendation: Use dry cleaning! It is not recommended to wash goose down duvets and pillows at home, because of the hard maintenance, but if you decided to do it keep in mind the following:
- Follow the instructions on the label strictly;
- Most washing machines at home cannot fit in double size duvets or bigger;
- Pretreated the stains before washing;
- Wash in cool water with soft detergent without coloring and do not use fabric softener, because this may cause stains;
- When washing on hand, rinse 3 to 4 times, to remove all the left over from the detergent, then carefully squeeze the unnecessary water. Removing the leftovers from the detergent is very important, so that your duvet or pillow regain proper shape after washing;
- When drying, use clothes dryer with bigger capacity or professional machine on low or middle-low temperature. To dry all the wet zones, take out the duvet and distribute the filling evenly several times during the process of drying. After that return for another final cycle of drying;
- Dry very carefully. Humidity can cause mold, which could damage your duvet or pillow. Drying big duvets can take few hours;
- Once it is fully dried in the cloth dryer, leave the duvet or pillow to fresh air (24 hours). Do not expose to direct sunlight;
- Make sure your duvet or pillow is completely dry, before using them again.
Other useful tips:
- With transportation, the down duvets or pillows are packed tightly. After opening, carefully distribute the filling and leave it for couple of hours to regain its shape.
- When using duvet cover and pillow case the goose down duvets and pillows will last longer. The cases usually are secured by buttons or a zip and protect the duvet/pillow from dirt as well as seams from excessive wear down.
- Store the luxury goose down duvet or pillow in textile package from 100% cotton in order to keep them clean and fresh for the next season. Never put them in plastic bag or a box, because goose down cannot “breath” in them. Keep them in a dry and ventilated room when you are not using them, to avoid mold.
- Check the bedroom and distribute the filling evenly every day.
- When drying goose down duvet or pillow use tennis ball in the machine, so the filling can distribute itself evenly.
- Change your pillows and duvets, when you think they had lost their original properties.
