Why should we change our bed linen?
Despite on what level your personal hygiene is, the human body releases dead skin, body fluids and hair. Those can be bad for your health and sleep, since the longer they stay in the bed linen, the more they can lead to unpleasant smell, stickiness and serve as food for bugs, fleas and other parasites.
Normal usage
According to the top hotel chains, bed linen sets should be change every three days. Most people don’t have the time or the resources to do so. Adults, who bath, wash their hair regularly, wear clean pajamas and are using the bed mainly for sleep – it is good to change the bed linen set once a week.
However, if you prefer to change the bed linen more often, we recommend having three sets of bed linen – one on the bed, one in the laundry and one in the closet, ready for change.
More active use
For some people bed is not only for sleeping, but rather a table for eating, a work desk, cinema or even a fitness area. Crumbs from eating in your bed may lead to unpleasant guest such as cockroaches or ants. If you work, eat or drink in your bed, you should change the sheets or at least clean them every day. Sexual active people should change the sheets after each activity.
Mites, skin allergies and other problems
Some people are more sensitive or allergic to mites than others. Changing the sheets twice a week and washing the pillow cover more regularly, should relieve the symptoms of runny nose, coughing and irritated skin. Women in cycle must also change sheets, in case the sanitary napkin has leaked. Even the smallest spot of dried blood can attract mites or other insects. People that sweat during sleeping should change the sheets every day to prevent skin irritation and mites. In case of flu or other sickness, pillow cover should be changed every night and sheets at least once a week or after they get dirty.
